Volunteer and Make a Difference in Central Texas

Are you looking for an opportunity to give back to your community and make a difference in Central Texas? Brother Stephen Walsh from CSC '62 Campus Ministry at St. Edward's University has created Reflect, Volunteer, Engage (SERVE) Austin, a program that works collaboratively with non-profit organizations in the area. Through SERVE Austin, you can help those in need by focusing on social issues such as food insecurity, immigration and education. The Good Samaritan is dedicated to helping Latino families and other families lead healthy, productive and safe lives through high-quality, affordable health, education and economic stability services.

As a volunteer, you will assist children in first through eighth grade with their homework, projects, art, and plan fun activities. Todos Juntos is a bilingual family learning center that provides daycare to adults and families from the neighboring community who are striving to learn English and improve their lives in Austin. SERVE Austin volunteers can help with preschool classes, play with children, assist teachers with activities, and read to children. Former participants have expressed their appreciation for the strong sense of family and community at Todos Juntos. If you are interested in volunteering with SERVE Austin, applications are available at the start of each semester. Interfaith Action of Central Texas (iACT) also exists to build healthy relationships between religious communities in Central Texas.
